Our Past Perfomance

The IB began with 9 candidates in 1993 and has since grown up to a hundred students a year. It is now a popular 2 year pre University course taken after KCSE or IGCSE.It begins in January each year. While our school is a boys’ school from Standard one up to Form four, the IB programme is also offered to girls, who make about half the intake. Some of the best students from local private and public schools take up places each year in the program. We continue to have students from other parts of the world, including the East, Central and West African regions.
Past students of note have done us proud by performing exceptionally in the course. One such student achieved the maximum possible points 45 and went on a scholarship to Oxford University. Others have won scholarships to Cornell University, Massachusetts Institute of technology among many others.
The success of the program can be seen in the number of IB students who take places in Universities abroad and within the country. It can also be seen in their acclaim for our student’s confidence, diplomatic skills, grasp of global issues and artistic expression, as well as in the ease with which our students settle into University life, in and out of class as mature, knowledgeable adults.
Many St Mary’s teachers are currently I.B examiners receiving scripts and coursework for marking from all over the world. They have been invited by the I.B curriculum and assessment centre in Cardiff to be member of committees reviewing subject curricula.
